On 9th September 2014 was celebrated the Kick-off meeting of the project DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF A RECYCLING LINE FOR NEODYMIUM-IRON-BORON (NIB) MAGNETS FROM ELECTRONIC WASTES “MAGNETRONIC-REC” (ECO/13/630354) at Lurederra facilities. The project with a total budget of 1.197.713 €, was launched in July of this year and it is at 50% co-financed by the European Union through the ECO-INNOVATION Programme.
The aim of the project is to construct at a competitive scale a recycling line for neodymium-iron-boron (NIB) magnets from different electronic wastes, with a capacity of 80 tonnes of NIB powder/year, which will enable the recovery of those magnets for their further use in the same or other applications, and consequently, the recycling of rare earths (RE) materials, which are widely consumed in Europe but not extracted or produced
Total consortium partners of the project MAGNETRONIC-REC: Coolrec BV (Netherlands), Machinefabriek Otto Schouten (Netherlands), Magnet Sales & Service LTD (UK) and Technological Centre Lurederra (Spain) – host and coordinator- attended the Kick off meeting.
